Go Green with Eco-Friendly Smart Home FeaturesInvesting in smart home appliances makes life more simple. Paying for convenience is the way of the world. Convenience is not the only benefit of investing in smart home technology though. Sure there is safety and other advanced features that are guaranteed to “wow” guests, but there are many eco-friendly components that make smart homes more worthy to invest in.

For example, the Nest Thermostat monitors your heating and cooling. htrrh and cooling is typically responsible for more than half of a home’s energy use. The Quick Schedule feature allows you to choose what time your air runs. You can adjust the temperature in your house from anywhere using the app on your phone! This feature helps reduce our carbon footprint by conserving energy when you are away from home. The Nest Thermostat has the ability to turn itself down which saves energy when you are not there.

Ring has a series of Smart Lights that also conserve energy in a number of ways. The Solar Floodlight is powered by the sun. You still receive motion-activated notifications and can control the lights with the Ring App but what is great about this product is that the solar panel charges it. It does not have to be plugged in to a power source to generate electricity. The Solar Pathlight and the Solar Steplight have all of those same great features. These lights are motion-activated so they can turn on only when someone or something passes by its sensors. Keeping them on for longer periods of time and customizing the brightness is only a click away with the Ring app. If you do not want an alert each time something triggers the motion sensors, you can also customize those settings as well. For indoor conservation, Ring has the A19 Smart LED Bulb and the PAR38 Smart LED Bulb. At an estimated energy cost of $1.02 a year, the A19 can be controlled through your app whether indoor or outdoor. You can set schedules for how long you want your lights to stay on in any room. The PAR38 has an estimated energy cost of $1.93 per year. Although both bulbs can be placed inside or outside, the fact that the PAR38 is suitable for wet locations makes it better at withstanding outdoor weather compared to the A19 which needs to be protected.

Adopting any of these products into your home is a responsible step towards more sustainable and efficient living!
